Christians preach the gospel and witness for God to carry out God’s will, but the CCP condemns such righteous deeds as abandoning and breaking up their families, and arrests and imprisons Christians on various false charges. In mainland China, Christians from various house churches, particularly from CAG, suffer brutal oppression and persecution for the sake of their religious belief, some of whom were left disabled or died. Many Christians have gone into exile and were rendered homeless with their families scattered. Countless Christian families have been thus broken! In this episode, we have invited Professor Massimo Introvigne, an Italian scholar of new religious movements, founder and managing director of Center for Studies on New Religions, to talk about why the CCP oppresses and persecutes The Church of Almighty God, whether the CCP’s accusations against The Church of Almighty God are true, and who is the main culprit behind the breakdown of Christian families, and so on. On March 9 of 2018, the Coordination of Associations and Individuals for Freedom of Conscience (CAP LC) organized a special event in Hôtel Château Frontenac in Paris, France. In the event, the denied asylum requests of the members of The Church of Almighty God were discussed as well as the risk of deportation at any time that some Church members are facing after receiving the removal orders. An appeal was also made to the French government for the protection of the human rights of The Church of Almighty God Christians. Professor Massimo Introvigne, a well-known Italian Scholar of new religious movements and Managing Director of CESNUR (Center for Studies on New Religions); Mr. Willy Fautré, Executive Director of HRWF (Human Rights Without Frontiers); Ms. Marie Holzman, French Sinologist and President of the Association Solidarité Chine (Solidarity with China); and Mr. Eric Roux, the President of EIFRF (European Interreligious Forum for Religion Freedom) were all in attendance and delivered speeches. During the event, the organizer played a video of the testimonies of two Church members who suffered persecution at the hands of the authorities of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). On November 20–21, 2017, in just two days, seventeen reports attacking The Church of Almighty God (CAG) were published intensively on Ta Kung Pao and Wen Wei Po, the mouthpiece media of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Hong Kong (HK), citing the rumors and fallacies consistently fabricated by the CCP to discredit and condemn the CAG. At the international conference on Religious Persecution and the Human Rights of Refugees in Seoul, South Korea on October 23, 2017, Professor Massimo Introvigne made a detailed analysis of the inaccuracies in the Chinese Communist government’s definition of a “xiejiao.” He also clearly stated that The Church of Almighty God has been the religious group most seriously persecuted by the Chinese Communist government, leading to the incarceration and sentencing of hundreds of thousands of the church’s Christians who have committed no crimes. They have only been incarcerated and sentenced because of their affiliation with The Church of Almighty God. Chinese authorities have not denied their suppression of the church, and they uphold that the church members have committed serious crimes, including the purported May 28 Zhaoyuan City McDonald’s murder case. However, as of now, not a single one of the Chinese government’s accusations against The Church of Almighty God has been substantiated. Professor Introvigne published in-depth research and analysis on the May 28 Zhaoyuan City McDonald’s murder case. His findings were that the brutal perpetrators of that murder absolutely were not members of The Church of Almighty God, and that the May 28 Zhaoyuan City McDonald’s murder case is completely unrelated to the church. At the end of the conference, Professor Introvigne said that the real xiejiao is the Chinese Communist Party.

On October 23, 2017, at a meeting on “Religious Freedom and Refugee Human Rights” held in South Korea, Ms. Rosita Šorytė, who had represented the Interim Lithuanian President as Chairman of the EU Working Group on Humanitarian Assistance, stated in her speech, “According to the 2004 Guidelines of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the 1987 UN Refugee Convention, for a persecuted religious group, members of The Church of Almighty God (CAG) have clearly been subject to the persecution of torture, a higher severity of iniquity than social persecution, thus more deserving of being granted refugee status.” Šorytė mentioned that the Republic of Korea is a respected democracy that has also signed and ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention and the 1967 Protocol. News Conference on a Case Study of Religious Freedom Violations in China

On December 14, 2017, a news conference with the theme of Religious Freedom Violations in China—A Case Study of Persecution Against Christian Minorities was jointly held by the Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR) and the Center for Studies on Freedom of Religion, Belief and Conscience (LIREC) in the Italian Chamber of Deputies in Rome. The meeting focused on the appeal being made on the issues of rejected refugee applications and impending repatriation of a majority of The Church of Almighty God‘s Christians that had fled to Europe. It is also the first time that a news conference on the persecution of The Church of Almighty God was held in the Roman Chamber of Deputies. On January 4, 2018, according to the U.S. State Department, pursuant to the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act, China is re-designated as a “Country of Particular Concern.” This is the nineteenth consecutive year that China is included in the “Country of Particular Concern” list. Christians From The Church of Almighty God Join Amnesty International in Appealing for Human Rights On November 19, 2017, the French Jaurès Team of Amnesty International, a long-time human rights watchdog organization in various countries, held a running activity called Run for Freedom (Courir pour la Liberté) at the Buttes-Chaumont Park (Parc des Buttes Chaumont) in Paris, aiming to call on the Chinese and Turkish authorities to immediately cease persecution of its Turkey chairman, Taner Kılıç, Chinese women’s rights activist Su Changlan, and nine other Turkish human rights activists. This is yet another call and condemnation by the international community on the dramatic deterioration of the human rights conditions in China and Turkey. The persecuted Christians of The Church of Almighty God also participated in the running activity, who expressed that they were participating in the event to support human rights and appeal for the abusive human rights situation in China. They introduced that since God appeared to work in 1991, The Church of Almighty God has been suppressed and persecuted by the CCP government. Statistics show that just in the short span of two years between 2011 and 2013, as many as 380,000 Christians of The Church of Almighty God had been unlawfully arrested, imprisoned and convicted by the CCP government, of which 43,000 were subject to various means of torture in secret courts that resulted in the death of 13 people. To date, well-documented cases indicate that 44 Christians of The Church of Almighty God had been persecuted to death by the Chinese government. As a result of the escalating repression, they were forced to flee to overseas countries for asylum. Their experiences have also drawn the attention of an increasing number of international human rights organizations and individuals.
